The P226 is the pistol that set the standard by which all other combat handguns are measured. Designed as SIG’s entrant in the military trials to replace the 1911, today the P226 is in use by the U.S. Navy SEALs, Federal agents, and numerous law enforcement agencies including the Texas Rangers, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Michigan State Police to name a few. The exceptional ergonomics and balance make this full-size pistol easy to handle. Available in either 9mm, .357 SIG or .40 S&W, its longer barrel yields better ballistic performance and accuracy.

What Sig Sauer p226 Nitron Model do Navy SEALs Use?

The Sig Sauer p226 Nitron was introduced in 1989. It is a compact version of the Sig P-226, at just 7.1 inches long and just 1.5 inches wide. Considered a favorite by Navy SEALs and special boat teams, it is their standard carry pistol, as it is small, lightweight, durable, accurate, and easy to conceal.

Which is Better, Sig P226 or Glock?

Accuracy: Both are very accurate, and if you’re talking about combat accuracy, it’s a tie. However, the sig p226 Nitron has a specific advantage for me in a range configuration over the Glock. Weight: The Glock is lighter. If you’re carrying this on top, open or concealed, weight is definitely something to consider.

Is A P226 a Good Gun?

The P226 has proven to be a reliable weapon. It needs to stay lubricated. When I ran it in the rain and dried it out, it got a little finicky, but it is reliable. And considering the variety of ammo it eats up, it’s good to go with just about anything you throw at it.

Why are the p226 Upgrades so Good?

The P226 struggles a bit, but it’s a flat-firing, easy-to-control pistol. It’s nice to shoot smoothly, at least in 9mm. Even in 40 S&W and 357 SIG, it’s pretty controllable. I love shooting drills, especially those involving quick target transitions and follow-throughs.
